New Zealand born Jonathan Elsom graduated as a sculptor with a Fine Arts degree before a New Zealand Government bursary took him to London in 1959 to study as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. A successful 40 year UK career as an actor in theatre, television and films followed, prior to settling in Sydney in 1999.
A familiar face on British television in such series as To the Manor Born, Rising Damp, Minder and The Avengers, and leading roles in West End productions including Conduct Unbecoming, Dirty Linen, London Assurance,The Millionairess. He has since appeared regularly in Australian TV series such as All Saints, (Channel 7) and Backberner (ABCTV.) Australian theatre includes leading roles for the Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir, Stables and Bell Shakespeare.
His paintings and sculpture have been exhibited in major exhibitions in Britain, New Zealand, and Australia.
Jonathan began writing in 2003, and his short stories and poetry have won numerous awards and been published In Australia, UK, and the US.
Short stories have appeared in collections for Short and Twisted 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 (Celapene Press - Australia), Blue Crow 2010, 2011 (Australia), and won awards or been published by Raspberry and Vine (Australia), Horror Writers of Australia, Southern Cross Literary Competition (Australia), Banquet Press Festival Competition (Australia), Global Short Story Competition (UK), Meridian Writing (UK). Poetry has been published by CoolDog Publications (UK), Tom Howard Poetry Collections, (US), Yellow Moon (Australia), JBWB Poetry (UK).
